A floating horsehair canvas runs the entire length of the front panel and is pad-stitched through the lapel roll. No adhesive is used anywhere in the front construction, so there is no bond that can fail. The chest is softer in the hand on day one than a fused jacket of the same cloth and firmer after a hundred wearings, because the canvas takes an impression of the body and keeps it.
