The same gabardine construction as C-01 with a durable water-repellent finish applied to the face. It is water-repellent to the tested rating below and no further: the seams are stitched rather than taped, so sustained rain will find them. The rating and the exact test conditions are printed here rather than summarised into a marketing word.

What this layer changes

Weight decides drape more than fibre does. The same wool at 300 gsm and at 500 gsm are two different garments — one follows the body, the other hangs off the shoulder in a column.

Water repellency

Rating: ISO 4920 spray rating 4 of 5 on the face fabric as supplied
Test conditions: ISO 4920:2012 spray test, 250 ml of water at 20 °C poured over 25 to 30 seconds onto fabric held at 45° under a spray head 150 mm above the sample. Rating 4 means slight random wetting of the surface with no through-penetration. Retested after 10 wash cycles at 40 °C the rating fell to 3 of 5. Seams are stitched and not taped, so the seam line is not covered by this rating.

Care

Dry cleaning: Dry cleaning removes the repellent finish. If the coat is cleaned, ask for the finish to be reapplied.
Washing: Machine wash cold on a gentle cycle without fabric softener; softener disables the repellent finish.

Taken on the garment lying flat, in centimetres. Chest and hem are the straight measurement across, doubled. Allow one centimetre either way for cloth that has been milled or washed.
