A densely woven cotton gabardine with no finish applied. We make no water claim for this coat, because we have not tested one — an uncoated gabardine sheds a light shower through weave density alone and then wets through. It is here as a spring and autumn coat, not as rainwear.

What this layer changes

Weight decides drape more than fibre does. The same wool at 300 gsm and at 500 gsm are two different garments — one follows the body, the other hangs off the shoulder in a column.
